David Anderson Scott David was the third child and second son born to William Scott and Mariah Anderson. He was born 9 May 1912 in Port Glasgow, Scotland.
He d
ied 14 November 1963 in Greenock, Scotland.

David married Jean Lauder Thomson on 16 January 1943 and had two daughters: Jean (now Kesson) and Gillian (Gill) (now Prosser)

Known as “David” to his mother, brother and two sisters, but as “Dave” to his wife, Jean, her family and friends.

After he left school, he served an apprenticeship as a motor engineer and was in time promoted to the position of foreman in one of Greenock ’s largest garages. During the WW2, he worked long and hard for the war effort in his reserved occupation. After work he regularly undertook fire-fighting duties during the enemy bombardment of Greenock . (Sadly, his first wife, Kathleen Colquhoun, was killed when a German bomb hit an air raid shelter during the Greenock Blitz in 1941.)

In 1946, he started his own business in Greenock , trading under the name of “ David A. Scott, Motor Spares Factor.”

A conscientious citizen, in the post-war period he joined the Civil Defence to help protect the country during the perceived threat of the Cold War. He was also a Freemason.

In his forties, he took up golf and joined Skelmorlie Golf Course, which enjoys a splendid elevated position overlooking the River Clyde, not far from Greenock . It’s fair to say golf became a bit of an obsession. He played off a handicap of twelve and summer and winter his weekends were spent at Skelmorlie playing with the “boys”.

Sadly he was afflicted with angina in his late forties and died suddenly of a coronary, at the age of 51, after returning home from a game of snooker.

His remains were cremated at Greenock Crematorium and his ashes scattered in the Garden of Remembrance there.
